Since 1999, we have been handcrafting authentic reproduction steel gate designs for Australian properties, with the same classic elegance and enduring utility of the historic wrought-iron gates that have graced entrances across Europe for centuries.
Typically made to order within just 4-6 weeks, our metal gates are fully engineered and expertly hand-welded in our Sydney workshop by skilled craftspeople using traditional techniques. Every gate is handcrafted from solid premium Australian steel – not hollow tube – and arrives ready to hang, pre-fitted with our unique Bolt-Action Latch™ and solid alloy steel bearing blocks welded to the frame.
Available as singles or pairs to suit the entrance of any Australian property, our steel gate range comes in a variety of wrought iron style designs and with a choice of two distinctive finishes – a ‘natural rustique patina’ for an immediately aged appearance, or a ‘black zinc-rich’ epoxy undercoat that lets surface patina develop over time. Alternatively, the traditional ‘black iron’ appearance can be maintained with the application of a suitable enamel top coat.

Frequently asked questions about

No. Our gates are made from solid – not hollow tube – premium Australian steel, handcrafted in the authentic wrought iron style.
Genuine wrought iron is a historic material that is no longer commercially produced, so almost every modern ‘wrought iron’ gate is in fact steel. Steel is also stronger and more weather-resistant than traditional iron, so you get the classic ‘black iron’ look and heritage detailing of traditional wrought iron gates with far greater strength and longevity.
Firstly, measure the distance between your posts and then allow for hinge and swing clearance. Each gate needs to be 100mm narrower than the available opening to allow for hardware to be fitted and the gate to swing freely.
- Single gate width = the shortest measurement between your posts minus 100mm
- Double gate width = the shortest measurement between your posts minus 200mm

Our made-to-order steel gates start from $1,296 for a single gate and $2,880 for a pair, with the final price depending on the design and size you choose. Prices are shown on each product page. If you need a gate sooner, our floorstock range is available at fixed prices for immediate despatch.
As all Authentic Gates are handcrafted to order, they are typically despatched 4-6 weeks from receipt of payment. For interstate or regional orders, please allow an extra 2-3 days transport time.

All steel gates arrive complete and ready to hang – fully assembled and pre-fitted with our unique Bolt-Action latch hardware, hinge kits, gudgeons and steel alloy bearing blocks welded to the frame.
Most gates only require a two-person lift, and installation is straightforward as every gate arrives ready to hang with hinges and latch hardware pre-fitted. As such, they are DIY-friendly.
However, if you need assistance, any reputable fencing contractor can help – if you need recommendations, we may be able to refer you to contractors in your area following purchase.
